Irish Culture

Is it traditional Irish culture you are after as you visit Ireland? Then the North West of Ireland is the place for you to visit. Here you can find the very best in traditional Irish music, song, dance, poetry, sports, literature, and, of course, Irish food and drink. During the day you will explore prehistoric and medieval heritage sites and castles with local guides while in the evenings meet the local people of the west of Ireland and enjoy the “craic”, as we say in Ireland. As well as a chance to learn some Irish dancing we will visit “Sessions”, a key part of Irish music, where musicians gather informally and share their playing. We will visit the beautiful churchyard where W.B.Yeats, Ireland’s most famous poet and winner of a Nobel Prize for Poetry is buried and find out more about the inspiration for his poetry in the beautiful local landscape.
Each Music and Culture tours include a visit to one of Ireland’s famous festivals, depending on the dates. Festivals include: Westport Arts and Music Festival; An Tostal, Drumshanbo; Carrick Water Music Festival; Galway International Arts Festival and Tread Softly Yeats Festival. The Tour is based in two centres, in our specially selected accommodation in Sligo and Dublin, so ideal if you prefer less packing and unpacking on your tour.

The sightseeing and activities were better than we even thought! I still can’t believe we did so much in such a short time, but we did not feel stressed. We really loved the tour and would do it all over again in a minute! Thanks.
