Whatever you usually travel with – passport, camera, etc. No other special requirements. Remember that the weather is Ireland is very temperate – its doesn’t get too cold in winter or too hot in summer. It can rain at any time of year and the west coast can be wilndy so we recommend you bring a good waterproof/windproof jacket whatever season you travel in.
To enter Ireland, a valid passport is required. Go to http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports.html or www.euimmigration.org/eu_passport.html for applications and other information.
The Euro is the accepted form of currency in the Republic of Ireland and English pound is the currency for Scotland. We recommend use of an ATM (Automatic Teller Machine) to get cash. Most small towns and villages have ATMs. In addition, most restaurants and stores take debit and credit cards – American Express is less likely to be accepted than Mastercard or Visa. However, you should let your bank know you are traveling to Ireland before the trip to avoid getting any transactions denied/declined. We can also help you get your currency converted at the airport when you arrive if you prefer to carry some cash. Here is a currency exchange rate: http://www.xe.com/ucc/
Most trans-Atlantic flights from North America and Australia are overnight, so you will want to depart from the U.S. the evening BEFORE your tour starts…for example, if the tour starts on April 16, depart the U.S. the evening of April 15. You will arrive the morning of April 16 and we will meet you at the airport. For both the Culture tour and the Wild Atlantic Way/Causeway tour, please arrange to arrive and depart from Dublin Airport.
You must call 72 hours ahead of your scheduled tour for a full refund. Within 72 hours you will assess a $35 termination fee. There are no refunds for cancellations within 24 hours of your tour, or if you decide not to show up.
We offer great early bird booking discounts so you should book as early as you can confirm your plans to avail of these great offers. Many of our Group Guests arrange to spend extra time in Ireland, Scotland or elsewhere in Europe on their own! If you plan to arrive in Ireland before your Irish Life Tour starts, please contact us. The meeting point is usually at a hotel not too far from the airport, so we can pick you up after the airport arrivals and meet the rest of the tour. If you are staying on after the tour ends, please make arrangements for transportation to your next location.
We do hike in the rain, snow, wind and any other weather conditions that nature decides to throw at us. After all, we’re going on adventures! If the weather is unsafe for any reason, the trip will be changed or postponed. You will be notified the week of your trip if there are changes due to weather.
